Rucking & Ruckfecta Glossary

Concise definitions of the rucking terms and Ruckfecta-specific concepts you will encounter on the site. Use this glossary to look up the Ruckfecta Score formula, Rucker concepts, the difference between teams and chapters, the meaning of relative load, and what Salutes (kudos) are.

Rucking Basics

Rucking is walking or hiking while carrying weight in a backpack. A ruck is either the backpack itself or a single rucking workout. Pack weight, body weight, distance, elevation gain, and relative load are the core measurements that drive every Ruckfecta score.

Scoring & Rankings

The Ruckfecta Score is a per-workout 0-to-100 metric combining distance (35%), elevation gain (30%), and relative load (35%) normalized against the community 95th percentile. Ruckfecta Rank is your cumulative lifetime ranking. Achievement badges progress through Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum tiers.

Teams, Chapters & Competitions

Teams are free groups of up to 25 ruckers led by a captain. Chapters are organizational groups (clubs, gyms, military units) running structured competitions. League ($49/mo) and Pro ($99/mo) are the most common chapter plans; Enterprise is custom-priced. Competition periods and challenges are time-bound scoring windows.

Social & Integrations

Salutes (also called kudos) are one-tap reactions on workouts in the activity feed. Garmin Connect integration syncs Garmin watch workouts automatically. Share cards are generated images of workouts, recaps, and ranks designed for social posting.
